Sky Skills

Rivers Academy has extensive links with Sky Television, taking part in many of their bigger-picture community projects such as Living for Sportand the Rainforest Rescue.

With two of our sixth formers winning one year paid apprenticeships at Sky this year, it was hardly surprising that our gifted and talented students were amongst those chosen by the Sky Team to pilot their brand new multi-million pound Sky Skills Studios for Education.

This fantastic facility gives students hands-on presenting, camera operating and editing experience using the latest broadcast technology.

Working in groups of a maximum of six, everyone who goes to this facility has a chance to play a significant role in the production of their own television programme.

Rivers Academy are already booked in to use this resource next year for Citizenship and Sport.  The Sky Skills Studios will be used by our students from Years 7 to Sixth Form.

In the future we hope to work with Sky Television to involve our students in making their own educational and training pod-casts for twenty first century learning.
